Who We Are
The Owner of Alpine's Empowerment Agency
Hello! I’m Shawnee Palmer, the primary therapist, and owner of Alpine’s Empowerment Agency. It’s essential that my clients know who I am and what I believe in. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Addiction Counselor, and an EMDR Certified Therapist. I earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver.I specialize in working with trauma clients, high-risk youth, women, HIV/Addiction clients, older adults ages 55 and up, and families who are caregivers to older adults. I serve individuals in the Missouri, Colorado, and Illinois area. I only accept self-pay in Colorado and some insurance in Illinois.
I provide individual counseling services to youth, young adults and older adults who are at risk, have a mental health diagnosis and those who struggle with substance abuse. I have experience working with individuals who have Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective and Personality Disorders. I also have worked with homeless teens, adults, veterans, and families by linking them with community resources.
I believe that each of my clients deserves to be protected, valued and provided with all the necessary support to become the people they strive to be. I support clients during many stages of life. These stages can include gaining clarity on life purpose, building motivation, creating a self-care routine, improving communication skills, overcoming grief after a significant loss, and managing everyday life stressors. My focus is to help you gain the tools that you need to improve your quality of life. Please feel free to email me with questions or interests, I'll be glad to offer you additional resources as needed.
Alpine’s Empowerment Agency was named after my own grandmother, Alpine Berry. Although she passed away when I was only 5 years old, my grandmother was critical in shaping the woman I am today. She taught me how to read, fostering my love of education. I also learned how to overcome adversity and show compassion to others. Her commitment to keeping our family unified guides the work that I do today. I want my clients to feel whole and comfortable expressing themselves in a “judgment-free” space. I’m committed to keeping families intact and equipping teens and adults with the tools to become leaders in their communities.
I am also an author who released, “Shifting Your Mindset: A Guide to Overcome Depression, Anxiety & Trauma” October 2020. The book focuses on identifying ways to change your perspective on life. I wrote scenarios based on life experiences to give the readers a great idea of how they can overcome many life obstacles–from unhealthy relationships to abandonment issues.
